Research Laboratory
Lung cancer has become the most common cause of cancer deaths in the world. Metastasis, the malignant cancer cells from their primary regions of origin to distant secondary ones within the body, is the major cause leading to mortality for cancer patients. In our previous studies, using invasion/metastasis cell line model and microarray technology, we have identified several candidate genes that may play important roles in tumor growth and metastasis. Thus, the research interest of our lab is to identify the roles and molecular mechanisms of theses metastasis-related genes. In addition, the basic research results and clinical outcome of patients will be combined to examine whether these candidate genes would be served as biomarkers. Furthermore, the transcriptional regulation mechanisms of theses candidate genes will also be investigated to understand how to reduce or inhibit tumor cell metastasis. Another research interest is to identify the novel chemical compounds or Chinese herbal extracts that could inhibit the cancer progression using our platform developed.
